Abandoned in a Box: A Dog Finds the Strength to Overcome Despair in Love and Hope

Although many cultures have a deep-rooted belief that animals are inferior to humans, today the endless struggle to defend the rights of these creatures has made it clear that abandoning and mistreating any of them is a crime.

Fines, deprivation of liberty and loss of custody of a pet are some of the measures that governments take to stop cases like Pepito’s. This little dog was left in a box with no chance of survival.

A security camera revealed how a man in a car had left Pepito inside a box in a park.

The incident occurred at night, and the person thought that no one was watching him, but he was wrong because the truth came to light, thanks to the security camera of a store.

Abandonment will always be a crime, and we must speak out against it.

For all who know the story, it is clear that those who left him locked up and without any food only wanted the worst for him, but fate played a cruel trick on them.

Pepito, as the dog was named, was rescued by volunteers from the Leone Humane Society. This Florida -based organization has been rescuing homeless dogs and cats throughout the United States for years.

When our Pepito arrived at the shelter he was really sick, his severe malnutrition was evident .

The dog weighed just over 1 kilo and his ribs looked like they were tattooed on his skin; he was a complete leather bag, but his appearance soon began to improve with the attention and care he received at the shelter.

Shannon, one of the NGO’s volunteers, became so fond of the furry friend that she decided to become his foster mother.

This lady knew that the best thing for the puppy was to be in a real home and under her care, while Pepito found a permanent family.

The first day in his new home was quite scary for Pepito, but with Shannon’s love the dog was able to adapt gradually.

His change in a few weeks was surprising, the physical recovery was not as difficult as the emotional one, but he managed to get through it.

Teaching a pet to overcome its traumas is not easy, but Shannon knew how to help it with a lot of love. In this way, Pepito left his fears behind and has become a more sociable furry animal.
